Located
on the banks of the Kali Bein, a holy rivulet sanctified by the touch
of Guru Nanak Dev ji, it was setup last month under the guidance of
World Renowned Environmentalist, Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal. There is
no entry fee to watch this museum.
This
is the fifth such museum in the world. It took two years to establish
it.
Created by Canada-based Sikh scholar Dr Raghbir Singh Bains, it
has thousands of pages of text, tones of graphics, audio, video and
animations on Sikhism authored and compiled by him over a period of 26
years. Equipped with four made-to-order 22 inch
touch-screens and 2 LCD TVs, the museum has nine paintings depicting
different incidents from the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
The
captions about these pictures can be read and listened by touching
audio buttons in Punjabi, English and Hindi languages. Special
arrangements have also been made for physically challenged visitors to
enjoy the contents of the museum.
The computerized setup in the museum has a material to last up to
400 hours. This includes thousands of subjects on Sikhism, Sri Guru
Granth Sahib in Gurmukhi and English, Kirtan in 31 Ragas, information on
life history of Sikh Gurus, Gurdwaras of the world, Sikh encyclopaedia
for adults and children both, thousands of questions and answers on
Sikhism and other religions, animated Sikh Ardas and series on Sikh
martyrs and much more.
A
special section to curb the menace of drugs, HIV-AIDS and other social
evils has also been created here.
Before this multimedia Sikh museum, Dr. Bains had set up four such
museums at Khadur Sahib Gurdwara in Tarn Taran district, at Model Town
Gurdwara in Jalandhar, at Mississauga (Ontario) in Canada and in
Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
"According to Dr. Bains, the objective of his
project is to educate the youth about Sikhism, its golden principals to
spread message of peace and prosperity, universal brotherhood, well
being of entire human race and to help humans to lead a generous and
truthful life to serve the humanity in a better way".
