Assam’s Ambubachi Mahotsava of Kamakhaya temple

In Assam, the famous Ambubachi Mahotsava of Kamakhaya temple will begin tomorrow. The doors of the Shakti shrine will remain closed from tomorrow 6.12 am to 7 am on June 25.
The Secretary of the Kamakhya Debuttar Board, Naba Sarma said that necessary preparations have been made to welcome 5 lakh devotees from across the globe. Nine temporary pandals have been made to shelter the pilgrims atop the Nilachal hillock. Facilities like, 250 water taps, 200 temporary toilet units, fire services, 10 bedded hospitals have been provided by the district administration. Sufficent number of doctors and nurses will also be deployed during the festival.

A 24hour control room has been set up at the mela premises. More than 500 police personnel, 4 companies of Para -military forces, 200 volunteers and 150 NCC cadets are being deployed to maintain law and order situation during the mela. Movement of vehicles will also be restricted to prevent any untoward incident .CCTV cameras have already been installed across the temple premises.
Meanwhile, the administration and Kamakhya Debuttar Board urged the devotees not to use any plastic products to maintain hygiene during the Ambubachi mela.
