Dr.M.Veerappa Moily gets Moortidevi Award for Shree Ramayana Mahanveshanam

Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, President of India presented the prestigious Moortidevi Award of Bharatiya Jnanpith to Dr.M.Veerappa Moily, Union Minister of Law and Justice for his outstanding work on Shri Ramayan Mahanveshanam. Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Patil said that the youth are destined to play a major role in taking India forward, and making it a developed nation. She said that literature has a social responsibility in nurturing “the mental, physical and spiritual aspects of their personality and also inculcate the right values in them. It can have an inspirational influence when it profiles issues which make our youth conscious, that a life without virtue is like a flower without fragrance.” Smt. Patil stressed on the importance of literature in bringing harmony to society and strengthening national unity.
